Film Bartosza Konopki i Piotra Rosołowskiego „Królik po berlińsku” nie wywołał we mnie mocnych emocji. Nie był zbyt odkrywczy. Temat wolności i bezpiecznego życia - co jest ważniejsze? - nurtował wiele pokoleń, nie tylko okresu powojennego i nadal nurtuje.

Intrygujący był sposób ujęcia tematu: króliki doświadczalne w Berlinie, oko królika niczym oko Wielkiego Brata na początku i na końcu filmu, sposób narracji, ironiczny i przewrotny komentarz czytany poważnym i znanym z filmów dokumentalnych, popularno-naukowych i przyrodniczych głosem Krystyny Czubówny. Zdjęcia i ujęcia, jak gdyby z ukrytej, amatorskiej kamery lub później niskopikselowego telefonu komórkowego, często poruszone, zamazane lub prześwietlone. Świetne.

I wiele tematów. A najważniejsze to: wolność i bezpieczeństwo. Co jest ważniejsze? Jaka wolność? Wolność od czego? Niewola, która ma pozory raju i wolność, która rajem nie jest i dlaczego ktoś zawsze na niej traci? Edukacja okresu powojennego? Złota klatka korporacji? Świat bezpieczny, syty, ale z ograniczeniami? Zbyt wielkimi? Za jaką cenę? Mieć ciastko i zjeść ciastko? A może wolność wyboru, ale ograniczona? Praca „na zmywaku”? Czy to jest wolność?

Młodzi twórcy sugerują, że osoby, które żyły w enklawie, jaką były kraje socjalistyczne, pełniły rolę królików. Po zburzeniu muru berlińskiego tęsknią za bezpieczeństwem starego świata i nie potrafią przystosować się do wolności i transformacji. Przypisuje się im cechy „homo sovieticus”. Czy aby nie jest to bezpodstawna łatka, uproszczenie i nadużycie młodego pokolenia, które ocenia ludzi tylko w dwóch kontrastowych kolorach: czerni i bieli, bez dogłębnej znajomości historii, wiedzy, doświadczenia życiowego i międzypokoleniowego?
